Items of Interest:
- Don't let your dog dog spread Toxocarisis, Salmonellosis, or Campylobacteriosis!"
Dog waste contains bacteria and parasites. The diseases listed above can be spread from dog waste. That is why the Virginia Beach SPCA is sponsoring the Poop Pollutes Campaign. Their web site provides good information on the impact that pet feces have on our air and water quality. Something worth taking a look at if you have dogs or if your neighbor does...
especially if you live on one of our neighborhood lakes! VBSPCA Poop Pollutes Web Page
- Don't let your dog be declared a "nuisance animal" or a "vicious animal!"
- Having your dog declared a "nuisance" or "vicious" may not only increase the the fines awarded by the city for failing to control your animal, but you may have your your dog impounded and face a court hearing. For additional information and frequently asked questions about Animal Control City Codes please select this link: FAQs About Animal Control City Codes
- Pets are again permitted on the beach at all times of the day, but residents are reminded that they must be on a leash,
- and owners/custodians must scoop their dog's poop. Assisting dog owners in this effort, the CBCL has coordinated installation in Chesapeake Beach of more than a dozen Poop Bag Boxes which are kept stocked by volunteers. So please take a bag, clean up after your dog, and throw the bag in your trash.
- Crime on the Rise in Chesapeake Beach
Phone 911 for emergencies and call the police Public Safety number 427-5000 to report any suspicious activity. Please report any thefts or break-ins (automobiles, homes, sheds, etc.) to the police to help track and catch these criminals!
- Second Business Liaison Needed
We have found one but the CBCL still needs a second individual to volunteer as Business Liaisons starting in January. The money the CBCL raises from our sponsors and advertisers is crucial to the effectiveness of your civic league. You would work closely with the Treasurer and Newsletter Editor, plus you will get to know many of our very generous local businesses personally. If interested, please contact Kim Schmidt for additional details: 464-9575 • ksdesign@cox.net.
- Meeting Coordinator(s) Needed
The CBCL is in need of one or two individuals to volunteer as Meeting Coordinator starting in January. For the bi-monthly civic league general meetings, the Meeting Coordinator organizes the set-up of chairs and tables and makes arrangements for food to feed the 35-45 people who attend the meetings. Similar arrangements for food are made for the Working Meetings, but with the need to feed only 12-15 people. For additional informatiopn, please contact Heidi Janicki (318-9290 • hljanicki@yahoo.com) or Jackie Robertson (636-8900 • yackiedyackie@cox.net).
- Check out the artwork! Doug Barner's widow, Pat, has posted an electronic gallery of Doug's artwork on her web site Healing Rivers .
